My Bio
Hi!  Welcome to my private corner in cyberspace.   This is what I call Karen's Writing
Haven.

Life as a writer is fun, adventurous and can also be quite rewarding.  My years of
freelancing at The Staten Island Register were some of my best.   The afternoon, I
received my newspaper and saw my article on the front page.....well let's just say that
the whole neighborhood heard me yelling in the middle of the street.

After my divorce, I had an obligation to support my two children.  I gave up the
freelancing and landed myself a full-time job in retail which paid the bills and medical
benefits for myself.  Almost four years later, due to cutbacks, I lost my job.  Where
most people would have been upset and crying, I was beaming with joy.

That night I made the decision that I was going to finish editing my poems and publish
them.  I worked hard, spending most of my waking hours sitting at my kitchen table
absorbed in my poetry.

I finally achieved my dream.  I returned to work at another retail establishment.  I
worked there for approximately a year before I got hurt.  Can you imagine, the store
manager was a man and just sat back and let me do all the lifting. I was out of work
for close to four months.  During this time I began my rewrite and editing of East
Shore Babe.

East Shore Babe was done and was published in September 2005.  I left my job to
have shoulder surgery and began sketching out an outline to the sequel of East Shore
Babe.  The outline is almost done and I changed my attention to the rewrite and
editing of my next novel Roses.

Currently, I am in search for and agent/publisher for my completed novels: Loves
Challenges and Desires and From Me to You.  It's a long drawn out process full of
rejection letters, however, I will continue to send out my queries, keeping my dreams
alive.

I have two teenagers:  Mike who is a songwriter (lyrics and music) and plays the bass
and electric guitar, keyboard and the drums.  All my music on my web pages is
courtesy of Mike.  My daughter, Nicole, is a softball pitcher and spends most of her
spare time either practicing  or playing.

I'm going to take this opportunity to invite you to kick off your shoes, sit back and
relax.  Go ahead, grab yourself a cup of coffee or cocktail and enjoy my website.

I reside in Staten Island, New York with my two teenagers and Whiskers the cat and
Frankie our new kitten addition.
Music courtest of Mike Gio.
